Congratulations to Ilana for winning a Safford Award for excellence in teaching. As the fourth member of the group to be recognized, she has demonstrated outstanding teaching capability and a willingness to go above and beyond the dimensions of her teaching assignment.
Well done, Ilana!
Last week, Prof. Hutchison presented a poster on our molecular piezoelectric research, “Donor-Acceptor Molecule Piezoelectrics: Electromechanical Materials from the Bottom Up” at the 2012 Gordon Research Conference on Electron Donor-Acceptor Interactions. The work was picked as one of the three best posters at the conference, and he gave a presentation on Thursday night in one of the coveted “poster talk” slots.
Congratulations to Dr. Hutchison for being awarded a 2012 Cottrell Scholar Award by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA) for his proposal titled “Molecular Piezoelectrics: Building Responsive Electromechanical Materials from the Bottom Up.”
This award is meant to recognize exceptional ability and drive to integrate teaching with research among professors at major research universities. Along with the receipt of a grant, Dr. Hutchison has been accepted into the Cottrell Scholars Collaborative, a group with over 250 like-minded professors focused on the necessity for continued improvements in the teaching of science in an increasingly competitive global arena.
Congratulations Dr. Hutchison!
This Spring, Paula was awarded and Honorable Mention for her application to the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship. This program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported sciences.
With the competitiveness of the program, an Honorable Mention is a nice achievement. Congratulations Paula!
This Spring, undergraduate researcher Terry Paske was awarded the American Institute of Chemists Award. Nominated and chosen by faculty members, the AIC seeks to recognize demonstrated ability, leadership, and promise in outstanding Seniors studying chemistry, biochemistry, and chemical engineering.
This is an outstanding achievement- congratulations Terry!
Congratulations to Steve Owens, for winning one of the 2011 Safford Awards for Excellence as a Graduate Student Teacher! Steve is now the third member of the group who has won a Safford award.
